Kiln Firing & Kiln Hire Services

No kiln at home? No problem. We offer professional commercial kiln firing services to both the general public and studio members at our Brookvale and Rosebery locations.

Important Firing Requirement: We are a stoneware studio and fire exclusively to Cone 8 (1250°C). To protect our equipment and community pieces, all clay bodies and glazes brought in for firing must be strictly compatible with Cone 8 / 1250°C.

Public Kiln Firing (Charged by Weight)

  • Simple Weight-Based Pricing: Non-member public firing is $10 per kilo, per firing.
  • 14-Day Turnaround: Standard firing turnaround time is approximately 14 days.
  • Instant Pickup Notifications: No need to guess or follow up! Our automated studio notification system will alert you as soon as your finished piece is unloaded from the kiln and ready for collection.

Need a dedicated firing for a production run, private collection, or specific project? You can hire an entire commercial kiln volume at either studio location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member to buy supplies or use kiln firing?

Not at all! Our retail supply shop and kiln firing services are open to the general public, home potters, and studio members alike.

When is the studio open to come in to buy supplies or use kiln firing?

Our studios are open to the public during our staffed hours between 10am-4pm Monday to Sunday at our Rosebery Studio, and 10am-4pm Tuesday to Sunday at our Brookvale Studio.

Do you offer delivery?

Unfortunately we only offer in-store collection. We stock the same products at both our Brookvale and Rosebery studios, so you can choose whichever location is most convenient for you.

What temperature do your kilns fire to?

We are a dedicated stoneware studio that fires to Cone 8 (1250°C). All user-supplied clays, underglazes, and glazes must be rated to withstand Cone 8 high-fire temperatures. Unlabeled clays or mid-fire/earthenware clays that melt below 1250°C cannot be fired in our kilns.

How much does public kiln firing cost?

Public firing for non-members is charged by weight at $10 per kilogram, per firing. If you bring in greenware for both bisque firing and glaze firing, each stage is weighed and charged individually at $10/kg.

How will I know when my fired ceramics are ready for pickup?

While our standard turnaround time is approximately 14 days, our automated studio tracking system will notify you immediately as soon as your pieces are cooled, inspected, and unloaded from the kiln.
