What Our Students Are Saying
Pottery Class FAQs
Do I need prior pottery experience or artistic skills to join a class?
Absolutely not! All our pottery classes are designed for everyone, whether you’re a complete beginner, a dabbler, or someone who "can't draw a stick figure." Our expert teachers at ClayGround provide step-by-step guidance in a relaxed, pressure-free environment. Clay is completely recyclable, so if you make a mistake, we simply squish it up and start again!
What should I wear to the pottery class?
Comfort is king at ClayGround! We highly recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little muddy, such as relaxed pants and a t-shirt. Since you’ll be straddling the potter's wheel, avoid wearing restrictive clothing or anything made of delicate fabrics like white silk. Don't stress too much about the mess, our clay washes off easily and we also provide protective aprons to all our studnents. Closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety in the studio.
How long is this pottery class, and what is the cost?
What is the age limit for your pottery classes?
Our beginner pottery classes are open to anyone aged 13 and over. However, participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the class. (Our Date Night and Sip & Spin classes are strictly 18+). If you have younger creatives at home, we also offer dedicated Kids After-School ClayTime and School Holiday ClayCamps for ages 8 and up at our Brookvale studio!
Can I bring my own food and drinks (BYO) to this class?
Where are the ClayGround ceramic studios located?
We have two beautifully designed, eco-conscious studios in Sydney. You can book beginner classes at our Brookvale Studio (11 Mitchell Rd, Brookvale, 2100 in the Northern Beaches) or our Rosebery Studio (601 Botany Rd, Rosebery, 2018 in the Inner South).
Is there parking available at the studios?
Yes! We have dedicated private parking spots located directly in front of both our Brookvale and Rosebery studios reserved specifically for ClayGround students and customers.
If our front spots happen to be full, there is also plenty of convenient street parking available right around both locations:
- Brookvale Studio: Ample free street parking is available along Mitchell Road and neighboring side streets.
- Rosebery Studio: Plenty of street parking can be found along Botany Road as well as surrounding side streets.
Whether you're popping in for a 2-hour Sip & Spin or carrying your finished ceramic masterpieces home to your car, parking is quick, easy, and stress-free at both locations.
When do I get to take my pottery home?
Because pottery requires thorough drying before undergoing two separate kiln firings (reaching up to 1250 degrees!), the finishing process takes time. For our one-off beginner classes, your pieces will be ready in approximately 5 to 6 weeks. Once they are ready, you will receive an automated email and SMS notification to come pick them up. Best of all, once finished with our studio clear glaze, your pottery is completely food-safe, waterproof, and dishwasher-safe!
