We think that every heart-driven human action is important in the creation of a more peaceful, harmonious planet. We've partnered with Carbon Neutral to plant 400 trees each year as part of our dedication to Mother Earth and the BONDI CLAY family. In addition to that, for each new Member in our new Rosebery studio, an extra tree will be planted as a way of saying thank you. We're taking the following measures below in our effort to become carbon neutral and support the future of our planet. We'd be delighted if you would join us on this mission.
ClayGround respects and pays tribute to the Bidijigal and Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Arakwal, Widjabal, and Minjungbal of the Bundjalung Nation, as well as all Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work. We pay respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders everywhere. We'll continue to listen, learn from them, and support their culture so that future generations may appreciate it.
OUR SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
We feel we have an obligation to look after the environment, and we constantly strive for ways to minimize our carbon impact. Our studios were built with sustainable practice in mind from the outset. We actively seek out sustainable materials and ethically produced products, eliminating single-use plastic from our workspaces, and we only use carbon neutral electricity to power our lights and equipment.
We have pledged to contribute 2.5% of our profits each year to worthy causes as an extension of our commitment to support our planet. We responded to the terrible bushfires that destroyed so many habitats and rural areas last year by donating funds raised to WIRES. The money was used to help with the recovery and rehabilitation of the numerous native animals who had lost their homes.
Throughout the year, we also attempted to recycle and reuse as many of the remaining materials from classes by donating them to our local Vinnies, who re-purposed them into new homes.
The goal moving forward is to expand on this part of our business by connecting with more local charities and conservation groups in order to continue to develop ways of recycling and reusing ceramics for the good of the community and the environment as a whole.
We provide an inclusive environment of creativity and relaxation to our community by employing the art of ceramics. We've had the pleasure of getting to know many wonderful individuals from the local and regional community throughout this past year and a half.
