We believe that every heart-driven human act is integral for the creation of a more peaceful, harmonious world. As part of our commitment to Mother Earth and the extended BONDI CLAY family, we have partnered with Carbon Neutral to plant 400 trees every year. In addition to that, an extra tree will also be planted on behalf of each new Member in our new Rosebery studio, as our way of saying thank you.Below are some of the additional steps we are taking in our endeavor to become carbon neutral and support the future of our planet. We'd love you to join us on our mission.
ClayGround acknowledges and pays our respects to the Bidijigal and Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Arakwal, Widjabal and Minjungbal of the Bundjalung Nation and all Traditional Custodians of the land on which we practice. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. We will continue to listen, learn, and support their culture so that it may be respected and understood by generations to come.
OUR SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES
We believe we have a duty to care for the environment, and constantly seek out ways to improve our carbon footprint. Our studios have been designed with sustainable practice front of mind. We actively source sustainable materials and ethically made products, removing single-use plastic from our studios, and use 100% carbon neutral electricity to power our lights and equipment.
As an extension of our mission to support our planet, we have pledged to donate 2.5% of our profits each year to worthy causes. Last year we donated to WIRES in response to the horrific bushfires that caused the loss of so many habitats and bushland. The donation raised was used to support the recovery and rehabilitation of the many native animals affected by this loss.
Throughout the year we also tried to recycle and reuse as many of the leftover pieces from classes by donating them to our local Vinnies, giving them new life in a new home.
The plan moving forward is to expand on this aspect of our business, connecting to more local charities and conservation organisations to continue to build ways of recycling and reusing ceramics for the benefit of our community and the planet at large.
Using the art of ceramics, we offer an inclusive space of creativity and relaxation to our community, teaching all ages, genders, backgrounds and abilities. We have had the privilege of getting to know many amazing people from the local and regional community over this past year and a half.
